So is it just a dream, or did that town really never exist? We soon saw Betty and Archie reach the woods, where Kevin found a dead deer that was probably a part of a sacrifice ritual. However, Cheryl forced them to leave her property which was suspicious.
Meanwhile, Archie was trying to set up the town with its own Maple syrup production by distributing maple saplings to each house so they wouldn't have to depend on Cheryl. But Cheryl decided to counter his plan, first by putting up voodoo dolls on the plantation ground and then by slowly helping the people of the town with their needs and asking for a price in return. Later on, she met with the town council and proposed to host a Maple Festival. Whereas Betty decided that she and Archie should attend the festival so she could investigate Cheryl's plans. On the other hand, Archie felt strange when some of his friends wished him luck.
Moreover, Jughead even told Archie that he would always be a brother to him. Later that night, Kevin called Archie telling him that Betty is captured by Cheryl and they are about to perform a ritual on her. Archie rushed there, but he soon realized it was bait. Betty told Archie that she was now pregnant with his child, who seemed off to Archie as to how it could happen so fast. But soon, Veronica hit him on his head. He woke up being tied up to a wooden board and ready to be sacrificed in the ritual. The next moment, Cheryl stabbed Archie and carved his heart out in order for the town to thrive. In the end, we see Jughead tell the story about Archie being born in 'Riverdale' but dying in a shadow town, 'Rivervale'. So what is all this craziness?
